HAVE BEEN USING INFARED FOR 3 WINTERS IN THE NORTHEAST. WE HAVE FORCED HOT AIR FOR PRIMARY HEATING AND IT IS GAS FIRED. A GOOD HEAT BUT VERY DIRTY. PLUS SINUS PROBLEMS HAVE CEASED SINCE WE HAVE USED INFARED. THESE UNITS DO NOT BURN THE AIR AND ARE VERY EFFICIENT.THE COMFORT ZONE 1500 WILL HEAT FOR AROUND A DOLLAR A DAY ON HIGH CONSTANTLY. THE UNIT IS VERY QUIET AND THE THERMOSTAT IS ACCURATE TO PLUS OR MINUS 1 DEGREE,THIS RIVALS EXPENSIVE PROGRAMABLE WALL UNITS. THE CORD ON BOTH OUR UNITS DOES NOT GET HOT NEAR THE PLUG OR ANYWHERE ON THE CORD. I WOULD HAVE THIS CHECKED PRIOR TO FURTHER OPERATION OF THE UNIT.

I bought a Comfort Zone (CZ1500WC) infa-red utility heater. I've been using it for the last few months without any problems. My friend also has one, and alerted me to the cord, which gets VERY hot near the plug. Neither of us has the paperwork that accompanied the heaters and I can't find anything on line about it. Can you tell me if this is normal, or if there are any recalls on this model?

Hi Byron,

I did some research too and didn't have luck with it. Nobody actually states what's the heating element source. But from the look of this heater, I would think it has a ceramic/wired element. In case you want to buy this heater offline, you should talk to a salesman. Or at least, get a manual at a store to figure it out.

I'm sorry I can't help you with this one. The model itself is not so popular so it's impossible to get right information without actually buying one of these.

I was wanting to buy a comfort zone CZ999 and have a question. I recently purchased a Soleus radiant heater but when I got it home it was powered by a halogen type element which emits a bright light. I have a Presto radiant heater but it employs a ceramic wired element, which works great except Presto has issues with the thermostat going bad in a short time.
Does the comfort zone heater employ a ceramic/wired element or a halogen source?
Thanks for any light you can shed on this. I cannot find any information on the heating element source.
